Sting launches new Climate Action accelerator
For the first time, Sting is starting a thematic accelerator program. This spring, six startups that focus on one of the greatest challenges our planet is facing – climate change – will during the new Accelerate program get access to sector-specific business coaches and mentors, and a number of climate action-oriented activities and resources.
The new program, Sting Accelerate Climate Action, combines Sting’s award-winning accelerator program, the successful Startup Climate Action initiative, Sting’s industry knowledge and network, and a possible 500,000 SEK investment from Propel Capital.
"Sting offers one of Europe’s best support ecosystems for entrepreneurs and we know that we make a real difference by helping accelerate new promising startups. With Sting Accelerate Climate Action we want to take a next big step and show our commitment to do what we can to contribute to a better future on our planet."
Karin Ruiz, Business Coach, Startup Climate Action Lead and Deputy CEO of Sting
Inspired by SDG 13 Climate Action, the challenge-driven Startup Climate Action initiative was launched in June 2020, when 13 leading Swedish Climate Champions presented 13 Climate Challenges that need to be solved to fight climate change. Sting Accelerate Climate Action is the last step of the Startup Climate Action initiative.
"Innovation is an essential part of dealing with climate change and entrepreneurs are best at commercializing new ideas. We are now looking for the most promising teams that bring innovative and scalable solutions to the 13 Climate Challenges."
Henna Keränen, Communications Lead for Sting Accelerate Climate Action and Head of Partnerships and Community at Sting.
Six carefully selected startups will be accepted to join the first batch of the program that will run for four months from February to June 2021. The six teams will get access to everything Sting offers in its award-winning Accelerate program, and on top of that sector-specific business coaches and mentors, and a number of climate action specific activities and resources.
Sting has extensive experience from coaching sustaintech and climate impact startups, many of which have become household names in Sweden and around the world, such as Midsummer, Ignitia, Sellpy, Karma, Surfcleaner, Beleco and Worldfavor.
