Care to Translate's app is bridging language barriers within healthcare
Recognized as one of Sweden's most promising startups Care to Translate is helping millions of people get adequate healthcare. How? By bridging language barriers with the help of a translation platform. Today their app is used in over 180 countries.
How was your business idea born?
– Care to Translate was born from a deep personal connection. One of the co-founders, Linus Kullänger, experienced the challenges of language barriers in healthcare first-hand while studying to become a medical doctor. Inspired to break down these barriers, he first used a low-tech paper product. He eventually transformed the paper into an instant viral app. And the rest is history, says Maja Magnusson, co-founder and CEO of Care to Translate.
What problem are you solving for the user?
– Our mission is to solve the problem of language barriers in healthcare. We want to impact the lives of patients and healthcare professionals in a positive way. We offer a simple and effective communication platform to overcome language barriers. We strongly believe everyone deserves to be understood and receive the best possible care, explains Maja Magnusson.
Why did you apply to Sting?
– When we applied to Sting, it felt like finding a supportive community that shared our vision. We were attracted to their expertise, network, and the opportunity to learn and grow alongside other passionate entrepreneurs. Being a part of Sting's program has been invaluable. It has helped us learn important lessons, opening doors to crucial partnerships and helping us refine our business model.
What was your biggest failure during the startup process?
– Ah, the early days of starting our company! Looking back, one of our biggest learnings was underestimating how much work we needed to put into creating awareness about our solution. We have existed as a company for five years, and creating awareness is still one of our primary efforts. But hey, we live and learn!
What is your key to success?
– Our key to success? It's simple: We care about our mission and put people first. We actively listen to our customers, value their feedback, and continuously enhance our product. Our success stems from the dedication and passion we bring to bridging language gaps in healthcare, one translation at a time, says Maja Magnusson.
