Solutions for Tomorrow lauded in the Go Global Medtech program

At the Go Global Medtech finale, a program organized by STING in order to help companies develop an internationalization plan, Solutions for Tomorrow was selected as the company with the best strategy for global expansion. The jury consisted of experienced people from the medtech industry.

Solutions for Tomorrow offers mobile X-ray examinations for hospitals and medical clinics. Their innovative x-ray equipment improves care and patient safety while it helps the staff to work faster, more flexibly and at a lower cost.

– It is a big joy to receive such encouragement from an experienced jury. Now our next milestone is to get our machines CE certified. Then we will take the big step from product development to production and international sales, says Mattias Guldstrand, CEO of Solutions for Tomorrow, after receiving the cheque for consulting services in Business Sweden along with a one year membership in the Swedish Medtech Association.

Medtech startups from across the country participated in the Go Global Medtech program, which took place for the sixth year in a row. The program is structured in five intensive two-day sessions with established and international medtech companies as host. These sessions are combined with talks by experienced international lecturers on their work and different case studies.

– Go Global is a great program for the Swedish medical technology industry. It is a platform for sharing experiences, which I think is the least we can do as an established company. Elekta has been hosting companies since the start and it’s great to see that the standard of this year’s participating companies is so high. They all have good business ideas with great market potential, says Sören Johansson, vice president, business development, at Elekta.

After completing the program, the participating startups has a thoughtful globalization strategy to present to its Board of Directors as a basis for decision-making and a good prospect of succeeding with an internationalization.

“It is quite unique to be invited into a room where the other experienced players share their knowledge, without any disguises. We have heard large medtech companies talk about their journey — they’ve also been small at one time. These experiences shared were absolutely invaluable. In addition, you get amazing lectures. The Go Global program is very well organized”, said Mattias Guldstrand.

The companies that participated in the Go Global Medtech 2014 areLaprotech, Likvor, Robyn Robotic, Solutions for Tomorrow and Bioservo Technologies. The participating hosting companies were Elekta, Vingmed, DePuy-Synthes, Mölnlycke and Swedish Medtech Association.

The Go Global Medtech program was funded by Almi and Vinnova.

The jury’s winner motivation: Solutions for Tomorrow addresses a clear need on a mature market. The team has a great knowledge of the market and has chosen an excellent and cost effective strategy to approach it. The project has been validated by a large and concrete order from a key collaborative partner.
