Rio 2016: USA Opening Ceremony parade uniform will glow using wearable light technology

After watching the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janerio tonight, there are few who will have missed what the new technology Wearable Light is all about.
Michael Phelps, the flag bearer for Team USA, will wear a unique garment during the Olympic opening ceremony in Rio – the first-ever illuminated jacket. The Olympic uniform is designed by Polo Ralph Lauren and the light – electroluminescent panels – is affixed by the innovative technology company Flextronics.
STING company Light Flex Technology has developed a patented and washable electroluminescent technology – lighting in textiles and other materials commercially available for sportswear, fashion tech, protective equipment and other areas in need of “wearable light ‘.
– This is a fantastic opportunity for exposure of wearable light, and will contribute to more people knowing and understanding what kind of products we offer, says Victoria Bäcksin, CEO and co-founder of Swedish company Light Flex Technologies.
