Test Drive Deeptech

Sting Test Drive Deeptech is for people who are ready to build a company that uses cutting-edge advanced technology to solve big societal problems. The application deadline was October 9 (2022). Thanks to everyone who applied, all applications are currently being processed.

It’s time to realize your technology’s full potential

Sting Test Drive Deeptech is a series of practical workshops for people with early-stage startups or ideas that use advanced technologies to create a positive societal impact. During the deeptech test drive, you’ll learn how to build a successful business in this space and get hands-on support from experienced business coaches. The program has been designed in partnership with KTH Innovation.

What do we mean by deeptech?

“Deeptech” encompasses advanced technologies that address important societal problems with new, difficult-to-copy technical solutions. This can be in the fields of biotechnology, new materials, artificial intelligence, energy technology, robotics, AR and VR, to give a few examples. Your idea must be applicable to an international market and have potential to scale globally to be accepted onto the test drive.

Theory mixed with practice

The Sting Test Drive program intersperses theory with practice. Experienced entrepreneurs and deeptech experts will work closely with you to help you move forward with your idea. The program is based on lean canvas, a strategic template for developing business models and a popular tool used by entrepreneurs worldwide.

We’ll place a special emphasis on the challenges that research-based and other deeptech startups often face. The program consists of five evening workshops, and between them, you’ll be given some tasks to complete and receive individual support from Sting’s experienced business coaches. At the end of the course, everyone will present their companies and nominate a winner for best pitch.

Test Drive was the trigger that made me decide I wanted to build a company. I learned a systematic method on how to iteratively assess my business ideas − starting by 'getting out of the building'.

The deeptech coaches have both strong technical and business backgrounds that have been invaluable for us to precisely draw our business strategy.

What do we mean by healthtech?

By “healthtech startups”, we mean startups whose business ideas target important problems in healthcare, either with new digital solutions or hardware solutions, or both.

It could be diagnostics, monitoring, follow-up, preventive care and health interventions with elements of AI, just to name a few examples. The idea must be applicable in an international market and be globally scalable.

Test Drive Healthtech program is the next step for you who have an early innovative healthtech idea and possibly want to build a company that addresses important care and patient problems with digital and/or hardware solutions.

Who can apply?

The program is designed for those who have an innovative business idea or startup with great international growth potential. It needs to be based on a digital or technical solution. Scalability is also an important criterion.

We favor teams that are made up of at least two people, both men and women.

Test Drive

Sting Test Drive is a hands-on training program for teams with early-stage ideas or startups who would like support to develop their concepts, sharpen their business models and start growing their businesses. You will test and refine your idea, drive proofs of concepts, get meaningful critiques and help to focus your business.

What others say about us

Test Drive was the trigger that made me decide I wanted to build a company. I learned a systematic method on how to iteratively assess my business ideas − starting by 'getting out of the building'.

    Sebastian Haglund El Gaidi, Greenlytics

The coaches guide and help you find the way forward, they don’t tell you what to do. In the end, I’m the one who makes the decisions.

    CHRISTINA LUNDBÄCK, SURFCLEANER

Sting helped us grow significantly faster. Over the past six months, we’ve expanded our team, secured funding and have more than ten prospective customers.

    FREDRIKA KRINGBERG, RELOX ROBOTICS

Our next round of Test Drive: Climate & Energy
