Sweden’s investor elite was present at Bryggarsalen yesterday when 18 of Sweden’s hottest startups presented themselves at Sting Demo Day. The event is the finale of the Sting Accelerate and Sting Incubate startup programs, and nearly 150 investors networked with the entrepreneurs.

Sting Demo Day is organized twice a year with the aim of giving the entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their companies and establish relationships with future investors and partners.

The companies that now leave Sting offer solutions within a wide range of industries from health, cleantech, fintech and games to edtech and IT security.

In 2018, 33 companies were accepted to Sting. About 5 percent of approximately 600 companies that had expressed an interest in Sting’s programs were accepted. 26 companies received an investment from Propel Capital, Sting’s investment company, which is Sweden’s most active private seed investor.

– It is a group of really strong companies that are now leaving us. Many have already shown exciting sales successes. It was great to have a packed event today with so many investors, both VCs and from the angel community. Now we look forward to following the companies and continue to contribute on their journeys forward,” says Karin Ruiz, business coach at Sting.

Sting Demo Day ended with Fairlo and Signe winning the prize for “Best pitch” after the audience’s vote.

– Sting has many fantastic entrepreneurs in their portfolio and we are of course very proud to have been chosen for the best pitch award among all these strong candidates. The Accelerate journey with Sting has been very rewarding and we have managed so much in these four months. To then conclude with winning at Demo Day is a dreamlike launch of the new era for Fairlo, says Jimmy Hanna, founder and CEO of Fairlo.
