Previous SATS manager and former NHL pro invest in Challengize to lift couch potatoes
Egetto AB, the company behind the health platform Challengize, raises 2.5 MSEK from former NHL pro Mattias Weinhandl and Stockholm Leisure Partners, consisting of the former strategy and business development manager at SATS Johan Nilsson, and Rasmus Ingerslev, founder of Danish fitness chain Fitness dk and Fresh Fitness. Among other investors are STING Propel Capital, Epikat Invest and Virben Invest.
Challengize (formerly Intersport Challenge) is a digital teambuilding and health challenge for companies worldwide that helps to activate everyone at the office, even those who thrive on the couch watching TV. All activities give points, and the smart and science-based Challenge Points system is tailored to who you are and what activity you performed.
– We have seen many digital concepts across the world over the years. What we liked in Challengize where, in addition to a very skilled team, an incredibly smart approach with a proven track record of reaching precisely the group of people that HR departments struggle to activate with various health initiatives, says Johan Nilsson, CEO Stockholm Leisure Partners and former strategy and business development manager at SATS.
With Challengize, customers, for example HR managers, get a powerful tool and help to focus on good daily exercise, team building and to build a healthy corporate culture. With unique Health Points also offers customers an extremely valuable measurability of targeted health initiatives and measurable ROI. The fact that Challengize is a 100 percent digital platform, without the hardware, makes the concept extremely scalable through a few clicks, at a cost as low as 150 SEK/employee.
– I have an interest in health and knowledge about how exercise and movement are the key to a healthy life. With Challengize’s idea, the hope is that more people become active and can achieve their full potential, and contribute to a better world. By living healthier, we become wiser, happier, and make better long-term decisions, says Mattias Weinhandl.
Egetto AB, founded in 2014, has quickly already managed to establish several repeat customers, such as SJ, Hoist Finance, AIG and now Stora Enso, who conducted a Global Challenge in 22 countries.
– We are extremely excited to have the chance to work with our new owners who give us tremendous knowledge and experience in preparation for an international expansion. The investment will strengthen sales and give product development a real boost. We have some incredibly exciting collaborations in the pipeline that will be launched this spring, says Nicholas Roman, founder and CEO of Egetto.
Challengize has conducted more than 130 challenges in over 25 countries, from China in the east to Brazil in the West. The platform is available today in 10 languages and Egetto has partnered with leading brands such as Runkeeper and Endomondo. With Challengize, users can register as many as 78 different activities, from walking to the rapidly growing sport swimrun.
