Vitamin water challenger TapUp wins STING Test Drive Sustainability


TapUp, that will change the industry for vitamin water, yesterday evening won the award for the “Best Sustainability Idea” and 10 000 SEK in the final of STING’s training and inspiration program Test Drive Sustainability.

TapUp will move the production of upgraded water to where it is consumed and thereby eliminate unnecessary transport costs and negative effects on the environment. Users can load their own bottle with improved water (eg added vitamins, flavors and caffeine) at TapUP’s connected machines that will be in strategic locations, such as universities and gym.

– STING Test Drive was incredibly rewarding! We got good ways and means to structure and challenge our idea from different points, much inspiration and valuable ideas from experienced entrepreneurs. Now we will focus on “proof of concept” and to develop a working prototype, says Elias Björnestål, co-founder and CEO of TapUp.

The jury consisted of Arash Sangari, Tillväxtverket; Catarina Naucler, Fortum; Markus Berglund, Energimyndigheten; Natalie Engdahl, Reach for Change, och Stefan Henningsson, WWF. The winner motivation read:

TapUp solves a problem that has a huge negative impact on the environment. They demonstrate a strong business model and feasibility, and delivered an impressive pitch. TapUp has the potential to change the use of water, plastic and carbon, while offering a better and cheaper service to customers.

The three runners-up were, in no particular order:

Thirteen companies and projects participated in the sting Test Drive Sustainability program, which aims to help people to evaluate and develop their business, so that after the program can decide whether to invest in his idea or not.

The program has been implemented in five workshops in the evenings and a finale. All participants have actively embraced been learned from more experienced entrepreneurs and experts, and developed its business concept and business model based on Lean Canvas model. The companies have reconsidered their original business ideas and talking to potential customers to get valuable feedback.

– It is very inspiring to meet all of these entrepreneurs and make them develop both themselves and their ideas during the more than two months the program going. In this year’s round are a number of clear winners in the future, says Magnus Rehn, Business Coach in Sustainability at STING, who along with Karin Ruiz, also a business coach at STING, has driven program.

The next round of STING Test Drive Sustainability is given in spring 2017.
